Rob Chalecki (Guitar) - Hailing from Maine and holding a degree in music composition from CU Denver, Chalecki has developed from his affection for blue-grass and jazz subtleties, a style that weaves picked melodies throughout the harmony and rhythm. Mixing Brazilian and Cuban with Rock and Roots, Chalecki's tonal surprises delight and inspire. His strength as a soloist, undulating dynamics, and powerful voicing take BiggaDigga into new realms of World Jazz-Fusion.
Brian Phillips (Alto, Tenor, Bari Sax) - Brian's been a musician since he was knee high to a hiccup, growing up under the big sky of Montana. Since relocating to Colorado, he's been taking in as much of the local music scene as he can. Brian is influenced by the legends of jazz, funk, R&B, blues and Latin, but gravitates toward any music with a groove pocket. He's a player who plays for himself, respecting similarily minded musicians. Brian excels on stage in a live environment, a quality that's mandatory in BiggaDigga.
Garrett Evans (Drums, Triangle) - Thriving on a steady diet of Van Halen, Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin, Evans developed a lasting obsession for powerful rock and metal musicianship. By mixing in a little Police and Santana, he was exposed to other polyrhythmic sounds, ultimately leading him straight to the BeBop Jazz masters Miles, Dizzy, Monk and Parker. Today, Evans remains a dichotomy of musical tastes, finding inspiration from Jazz and Metal equally. Combining the best of both genres, Evans has carved out his own sound, pushing envelopes and creating soundscapes unique to the progressive jazz of BiggaDigga.
Glenn Tapia (Bass) – An experienced blues and funk bassist, Glenn uses his pocket-style play to give the band its groove-based persona. Glenn’s style is as simple as it is strong – is humble yet effective. Glenn believes strongly that a bass player's soul and spirit drive his or her success. The pursuit of the magical "groove" is an unending spiritual journey. As a bassist, Glenn has been influenced by the late Allen Woody (Govt Mule/Allman Bros), Dave Schools, George Porter, even some of our local talent as well. Glenn plays Schecter basses with Peavey Pro and Genz Benz amplification.
Tom Marsh (Keys) - Tom has sampled the musical spectrum, from early classical training, to
jazz studies, to various rock and fusion projects. Utilizing Rhodes, Hammond, Hohner and
occasional ARP sounds, influences include Auger, Jamal, J. Smith, Preston, and Zawinul. Tom
enjoys working a pocket with rhythmic two-hand styling, and relies on lick-oriented solos that
span multiple registers. Marsh focuses on listening to keep it tight, a BiggaDigga trademark.
James Liehe (Percussion) – James is a longstanding drummer and percussionist in the
Denver music scene. Having played with many bands over his 30 years of playing, James
brings a technique and style that provides a solid and diverse texture to the BiggaDigga sound.
